Lets face it, staying on trend is pretty hard… and incredibly expensive. It seems like the interior design trends are constantly changing, not only by the year, but more recently at a rapid pace, by the month it seems. Sure there are discounted furniture stores that sell items at a lower rate, but even then a basic bench can cost upwards of $100, which is a lot of money for a place you are only going to sit to slip your shoes off or on, maybe, if even that.

Well thankfully we recently saw a super fun and informative step by step video of a man who constructed a bench with a Scandinavian feel to it- totally with recent trends- in less than two houses, and the supplies cost hardly anything to purchase.

Check out the video below to get a glimpse at how aesthetically pleasing this bench is and how surprising simple that it is to make!

The genius behind this DIY bench is Instagram user @therehablife. His page is filled to the brim with all things DIY. His page gets quite a bit of hits also with nearly 200 thousand followers and just about 2,000 posts.

His bench design is quite simple, it basically is made with layered one by two boards, stacked and screwed on top of one another to create the shape, where the legs of the bench are sandwiched together and the top has gaps, giving it the Scandinavian slatted design.

You could take this DIY up a notch by painting it a fun color, or sanding and staining it a warm hue!
